  In particular:-
  
  1. /nick {new nickname} Changes your nickname to whatever you like.
     
  2. /topic {#channel} {newtopic} Changes the topic for the specified channel
     in our case substitute "#gordonlightfootchat ' for "#channel"
     
  3. How to Copy and Paste
     Note:- mIRC uses a nice select-and-copy-in-one-move feature.
     Copying is done automatically as soon as you release the mouse button
     you used to select the text with. Just highlight the text and release
     whatever was highlit is now on your clipboard and ready to paste into the chat text box
  4. you can cycle your own previous sent message lines by simply using the
     up and down arrow keys useful if you want to repeat an ignored question for example
